Native Chocolate is a small, family business owned and operated by Bocas native and resident Eve Downer. The company produces its out-of-this-world-delicious chocolate using local ingredients and employing local Indigenous women.Organic cacao is freshly roasted and ground to make a creamy, dark chocolate with a burst of intense flavor in every bite. The bars come in eight exciting flavors, including caramel, cinnamon, ginger, habanero spicy, roasted coconut, rum abuelo & roasted coconut, dark, and coffee, and they have a rich, delightful taste and never melt, making them a perfect carry-home souvenir or gift.

Native Chocolate was originally founded in 1999 with a vision for producing premium quality chocolate and elevating local people and ingredients using a secret recipe for flavor-filled, never-melting bars.

Eve took over Native Chocolate in 2016 with a clear and powerful intent to build on and extend the company’s impressive foundation, while adding her own brilliant and innovative flavors and touches.She is passionate about creating mouth-watering chocolate and giving back to her beloved Bocas, and Native Chocolate is deeply involved in preserving traditional Bocas culture and supporting Papa Gato Animal Welfare and other local nonprofits.

Native Chocolate Shop & More is conveniently located on 4th Street in the heart of Bocas Town and in front of the family home where Eve’s father Armando and her grandmother Gertrudis generously blessed family and friends with their genius for gardening and cooking.Eve and Armando opened a chocolate kiosk at the same site just weeks before the 2020 pandemic shut down that and other Bocas businesses. Eve’s many compelling motivations for re-opening and expanding the kiosk as Native Chocolate Shop & More include honoring her father’s beloved legacy while also creating beauty and abundance to bless her own daughter, Sofia, and enrich Bocas as a whole.
